Message from the Principal
December 21, 2020
Dear WFMS Families,
Welcome to the Spring Semester! As you may already be aware, it has been announced that the reopening of our schools will be delayed at this time as California continues to battle the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The West Fresno Middle School campus will remain in distance learning format until further direction from state and local health officials is provided to WUSD. Please read below for specific information. As a reminder, when school opens for in person instruction, parents/guardians have the option to continue with the distance learning instructional model or the blended learning instructional model. Delaying in person instruction two weeks is the most prudent decision for the safety and well-being of our children, staff, and community.
Distance Learning Spring Semester Starts: January 11, 2021. Please see attached bell schedule. Students will have a new schedule as Physical Education was taken out of the daily schedule to accommodate in person instruction.
Distance Learning Expectations: Every child will continue to be provided with grade-level appropriate activities so that they can continue to learn important academic skills while schools are in distance learning format. Class will be delivered through google classroom for curriculum and google meets for instruction. In the event that you don’t have access to the internet, curriculum will be provided in the form of packets. It is a WUSD/WFMS expectation to have your child submit their work through google classroom and/or on designated packet collection dates as all assignments will be graded. Daily attendance will be required. We value your input. If you have any questions or comments about the school’s distance learning plan, please call WFMS at (559) 495-5607.
Community Resources for Families: If you or someone you know is in need of community resources such as food, housing, or a list of mental health care providers, please visit the Community Resource link on our website at http://www.washingtonunified.org/community-resources/
WFMS Safety/Health Protocols: As you visit campus for any reason, please complete the following:
- Complete Covid-19 visitor survey with a staff member when arriving on campus.
- Wear a face covering at all times while on campus.
- Practice social distancing while on campus.
- Temperature check upon arrival.
Meal Distribution: All children 18 and younger will be eligible to pick up free meals at the following locations Monday through Friday starting: January 11, 2021

- West Fresno Middle School from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
